FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Each session costs £55.
The Initial Assessment, when we first meet, is charged at £35.
HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
A session lasts 50 minutes.
HOW OFTEN IS A SESSION?
Counselling sessions are weekly. We arrange a regular time to meet during the first call or Initial Assessment.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
This is up to you. Some people like to set a number of sessions as we begin, reviewing this as they go. This might mean they end therapy earlier than planned or extend from there. Others prefer to work in a more open ended way being prepared to stay until they are feeling ready to end.
We can discuss your sense of what you need when we first meet.

MINIMISING COVID RISK
I have returned to face to face work for those who are happy to do so. If you prefer to work online, I can continue to support this too.
On your arrival your temperature will be taken, in the event it is raised the session will not go ahead but I will endeavour to arrange an online time asap.
COUNSELLING OR PSYCHOTHERAPY; WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
Counselling tends to be shorter term and to be focused upon resolving a specific issue. Psychotherapy is longer term, with a deeper goal of exploring the wider context of your life. IT can address how you live now, its impact on how you are, and hope to live.
You don't need to choose, the decision is often implicitly led by your needs, we can find the answer together.
HUMANISTIC THERAPY, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Working Humanistically means our starting point is always you. It is your story, your perception of the impact experienced and the sense you make of it all.
My way of working is Humanistic, this is informed by Existential and Phenomenological philosophy. For you, this will mean that I am here to help you find your meaning in the sadness, crisis, trauma and distress you are experiencing now. This is a gentle collaborative process, rather than me giving you 'a plan'.
We will work together to understand your needs. I will ensure we establish a strong alliance as a secure steady foundation to work towards your goals.
