COUNSELLING OR PSYCHOTHERAPY; WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Counselling tends to be shorter term and to be focused upon resolving a specific issue. Psychotherapy is longer term, with a deeper goal of exploring the wider context of your life. IT can address how you live now, its impact on how you are, and hope to live.
You don't need to choose, the decision is often implicitly led by your needs, we can find the answer together.

HUMANISTIC THERAPY, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Working Humanistically means our starting point is always you. It is your story, your perception of the impact experienced and the sense you make of it all.
My way of working is Humanistic, this is informed by Existential and Phenomenological philosophy. For you, this will mean that I am here to help you find your meaning in the sadness, crisis, trauma and distress you are experiencing now. This is a gentle collaborative process, rather than me giving you 'a plan'.

I am also trained and qualified to offer Internal family Systems Therapy and Lifespan Integration Therapy. Links to tell you more about these can be found here under the heading 'Trauma'.
We will work together to understand your needs. I will ensure we establish a strong alliance as a secure steady foundation to work towards your goals.
